Decision on Hollman Morris reversed
The State Department has reversed its decision to permanently deny award-winning journalist Hollman Morris a visa to the U.S., according to an AP report just posted. Neither Morris nor Nieman Foundation Curator Bob Giles was given an explanation of either the denial or the reversal. In a week that saw the administration shown to be the craven toadies to right wing media in the Shirley Sherrod matter, the State Department apparently thought it best to leave the impression that some unknown apparatchik ran amuck than to once again admit that it had anticipated unpleasant publicity from the right wing media and made a policy decision to exclude Morris and possibly endanger his life. After all, this is how this administration operates. They desperately want to look grown-up. So they dress up in all the fancy clothes of the only grown ups they know — the Bush administration.
