Sun flare

NASA added to its stunning collection of videos of solar activity with the 12 second video hosted here of a solar flare on September 8. NASA’s press release tag: “Just as sunspot 1105 was turning away from Earth on Sept. 8, the active region erupted, producing a C3-class solar flare (peak @ 2330 UT) and a fantastic prominence. This is a three color closeup of the activity taken by Solar Dynamic Observatory.”

  1. I think its difficult to comprehend the magnitude of this flare. It is absolutely ginormous!

  2. And an excellent astrophysics blog you have. It will be on my reading tour from now on.
