Not all right-wingers are anti-science.

According to Foreign Policy, a member of Hungary’s far right Jobbik Party published the results of genetic tests on him, which he underwent “to ensure he did not have a Roma or Jewish ethnic background.” Evidently the subject was MP Nagy Gen. It’s good to see marginal proto-fascist parties standing up for the integrity of science.

Update (6/17): According to the journal  Nature, “Nagy Gen” is the name of the genetic diagnostic company, not the MP. The company has a website, which Google has difficulty translating.

This story comes amid anti-Semitic attacks in Hungary, including an attack on June 5 on the Chief Rabbi.

One of the financial backers of the diagnostic company is Jewish and has pulled out of the firm.
